The Red Wilk Construction Bull Bash at the South Dakota State fair
Huron, South Dakota– Cheered on by South Dakota’s Governor, Kristi Noem, the overflow South Dakota crowd for one of two 90-plus point rides of the night, Brazilian phenom Thu Wingson Da Silva won the average event title of the Red Wilk Construction Tuff Hedeman Bull Bash Thursday night at the opening event of the State Fair Grandstands.
With Tuff Hedeman welcoming 28 bull riders from seven states and two countries, the stage was set for the opening round where ten riders posted a score and earned a check for their efforts. Kaiden Loud electrified the crowd early on when he was 90 points, the highest score of the round, aboard 606 Monkey Island (Triplett/Start Bucking Bulls. Grayson Cole was behind Loud with 89.5 points on Midnight Caos from Triple C. Tyce Willis and Dylan Madsen turned in 89 and 88 points respectively. Da Silva rounded out the top five scores with his 87.
Following an 87-point ride aboard Goose Bumps (Kevin Kosel Bucking Bulls) in Round 1 of the event, the 23-year-old young PBR star Da Silva advanced to Round 2 and recorded a 90 on 431 Reckless Red (Rafter JM). Later in the Championship round, he failed to stay aboard but finished the event as the average leader and event winner with 177 points on two bulls.
Braidy Randolf rode to the runner-up finish compliments of his 89 points on Eagersnake (Triple C Bucking Bulls) in the semifinal round.
Third place went to the Wednesday night’s event winner and former Texas High School Bull Riding champion, John Crimber, who recorded the highest score of the night with a 91-point ride aboard Money Maker (Danny Mason Buckers) in the Semi-Final round two. The win earned him a slot in the Shoot Out Round and a chance at the $18,000 purse. He finished third with 176 points.
Oklahoma cowboy Kase Hitt rounded out the final four with 170 on two with an 81 in round one and an 89 in round two.
Four bull riders advanced riding both their bulls in Round 1 and 2 for qualified scores$1,000 Shoot Out round bonus , but all four failed to get a qualified ride in Tuff Hedeman’s Shoot Out Round where the bulk of the prize money awaits the highest score in the sudden death finale round. With zero scores in that round the $18,000 prize package will roll over to the next Tuff Hedeman Bull Riding on the schedule.
